1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device (computer, tablet, smartphone) when you visit a website. It lets the website remember information about your visit.
The rules that apply in France combine the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC, amended in 2009), the guidelines of the CNIL (the French data protection authority: deliberation 2020-092 and recommendation of September 17, 2020, as updated), and Articles 82 et seq. of the French Data Protection Act (loi Informatique et Libertés), as amended.
2. Our approach: privacy first, no advertising trackers
The website www.athletics-partner.com deliberately respects your privacy:
- No advertising cookies or retargeting trackers are placed on your device.
- No audience measurement tool is used: the website does not track your browsing.
- No browsing data is shared with third parties for commercial purposes.
- Athlete videos embedded from YouTube use a deferred-loading facade (see section 5).
3. Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies and storage items are essential for the website to work. They do not collect data for tracking or audience measurement and do not require your consent (Article 82 of the French Data Protection Act; exemption under the ePrivacy Directive).
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
ap_coach (cookie) | Access for a university coach to the Coach's Corner area, set only after the coach requests access | 30 days |
| Questionnaire draft (browser local storage) | Keeps your answers in progress on your device until the preparation questionnaire is sent; deleted when it is sent | Until it is sent or you delete it |
A visitor who does not request coach access and does not fill in a questionnaire receives no cookie.
4. Audience measurement
The website uses no audience measurement tool. No cookie or tracker is placed for this purpose. If such a tool were added, this policy would be updated before it goes live and, if the tool is not exempt from consent under the CNIL guidelines, your consent would be requested beforehand.
5. YouTube videos: nocookie facade
Athlete videos on the website are embedded through a deferred-loading system (lazy embed):
- When the page is displayed, only a preview image (thumbnail) is visible. It is served by YouTube's image servers (i.ytimg.com), which receive your IP address at that point; no YouTube cookie is placed and no player is loaded.
- Only when you deliberately click the thumbnail is the player loaded from the youtube-nocookie.com domain. From then on, YouTube (owned by Google) may place its own cookies and collect data in line with its privacy policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
If you do not want YouTube to collect data when you play a video, you can use a tracker blocker or not click the thumbnail.
6. Third-party cookies (social networks, other services)
As of the date of this policy, the website includes no social sharing button that loads third-party scripts on the fly (Facebook, X, LinkedIn, etc.). If such integrations were added, this policy would be updated and, where required, your consent would be requested beforehand.
7. How to manage your cookies
In your browser settings
You can set your browser at any time to accept, refuse or delete cookies. The steps depend on the browser:
- Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Third-party cookies / Site data
- Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Settings > Privacy > Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Cookies
Note: disabling some strictly necessary cookies may affect how the website works.
Since the website places no cookie that requires consent, it does not display a consent banner.
