Earning an athletic scholarship and playing US college sports is not just your goal: it is the goal of thousands of young student-athletes around the world. It's up to you to get your process started now.
Earning an athletic scholarship is a race! Believe us: a race against time. Thousands of young athletes around the world, and American high school students too, want this valuable financial aid, the result of years of hard training, competition and commitment from you and your family. It is a project to think about as early as possible, ideally around grade 10 (age 15–16).
With international students, coaches often tell us: "THINK EARLIER, MOVE FASTER." The earlier you think about it, the earlier you can act, and the more options and time you have to prepare your project well!
In other words, the sooner you start your recruiting process with US colleges, the sooner you will understand how it works, and the more Athletics Partner can introduce you to its network of coaches.
Some big universities recruit two years ahead in certain sports (golf in particular). Your plan to study and play sport in the USA needs time to mature, and it also needs to start early so you can save time at every stage.
- Filming yourself early and regularly will build up a library of footage to promote yourself better.
- Taking the TOEFL and the SAT early also lets you retake them if you don't reach the scores your chosen university requires.
- Having a clear plan for after high school will motivate you and give you a concrete goal!
Don't work in a rush: that way you can get as many relevant offers as possible, for both your academic and your athletic project!
